hey guys i just wanted to kno if my tank would have to completely recycle because of converting.thanks! And any other advise about keeping my tank clear and clean after converting

To answer your questions corrently we would need to know your filtration?

Example, if you have solely UGF, then yes you will more than likely recycle your tank. In most cases you bacteria live in a canister, HOB or SUMP so you would not have to "recycle" your tank if you switched. Just do not do any maintenance on your filters before the switch or for a couple weeks after to avoid any ammo spikes. You are removing some surface area from the aquarium along with some bateria but 90% your colony lives in your filter (excluding UGF)

After you switch it's easy, just use your gravel vacuum and hover it over the top of your sand to pull off anything from the surface. WASH the sand well before putting in your tank.

I took my gravel out in stages and during gravel vacs. It will inevitably stir some stuff up unless your tank is spotless, so I just had the siphon right there to catch most of it.

JK summed it up perfectly IMO,

What sand are you using? I switched to pool filter sand a few months ago and the difference is amazing. I'll post pics when I take them.

good to hear about others using pool filter sand iv heard people being super happy with it, and im wanting to switch from gravel to sand so would definitely go with the cheaper pool sand

the price LOL its like $10 for 50lb bag lol
