ok i am at the point i want to convert my mollies and guppies to full marine.

i have had them in full fresh for about a month now and they have started giving birth to youngins..

the tank will EVENTUALLY be a softy/leather and hat some refer to as the weeds of a reef tank.

90g display with 25g sump(might eventually plumb in the 45g clownfish tank after the 90 is fully converted to salt)

QUESTION...how much salt and how often to add to transition to marine conditions from fresh water

I know it can not be done with all fish and I doubt it can be done with them but only because I have never heard of it being done with them. But I know less than 1% of what can be done.

You wat lol?

I was under the impression it wouldn't be sustainable long term for these fish, for guppies anyway.

Look forward to hearing experience on this though

well i know for a fact from personal 1st hand experience, that sailfin mollies can be converted to full marine, thrive long term and breed, and their coloring is much better. had them in my fowlr for several years until i lost the entire tank due to a power failure while i was out of town (ice storm a few years ago) just don't know anything on the other types of mollies or the guppies except what i have read and iam not 100% sure i believe what i have read on NON fish sites hence the thread and question

We used mollies to cycle our marine system at the store back in the day. You can do a long slow drip acclimation to salt water. Guppies also can live in full salt water, I've had them survive as uneaten feeder fish in marine systems.

Wow news to my ears.

Very interesting. I know saltwater puffers and all sorts of eels and such can be converted to freshwater and go back to salt. I've seen saltwater puffers sold as fresh water puffers.
