converting needlefish to non-live food

i currently have 3 needlefish and im constantly having to buy them live food just about every 3 days. i would breed my own feeders but space is a problem.

i was just wondering what the best way is to get my needlefish on something else like silver sides?

I had a dozen for about 3 years. Never could convert them I tried starving them and killing the feeders first ... No dice. Tried silversides never starved them for more than 2 weeks though it could be done.

maybe try things like insects or worms, still living but easier to store. still a good chance they refuse those too though
