need some advice.....i have a 150 sw tank and sump..no fish for the last few months and want to get back to fw cichlid tank..any problems if i use the same sump and tank and remove all the sw, live rock, sand, etc and replace with fw?????? my son wants to be a mf keeper, now..

LOL i did the exact same thing about 3 days ago..... simply empty the tank, give it a good rinse, same with the sump. I would throw away all old sump media and buy all fresh new and thats it. Fill up with freshwater and add dechlor. Test your water after with a hydrometer or refractometer to see if you have any salt still in your water. If its very low it won't be a problem at all. It will come out with water changes.

thanks.... should i change the bio-balls too?

No. If they are visibly dirty, you can give them a good spraying with the kitchen sprayer to remove any loose material. The bacteria colony will not completely survive the change over but a small part of it will. The filter will already be seeded and will go through a quick cycle.

only pain i had was getting the mineral deposits off the glass

I would keep some bio-balls? What was the salinity of your SW tank? If it was 1022-1025 and after cleaning, stocking with Fw, and its still above 1010, perhaps its the media?
