hi
is a single convict still agressive?
i wanted to move a 1inch baby in with my bolivians and rainbows
and a much larger one into a 700ltr community tank with similar sized more peacful fish
reason being i got a pair i want by themselves in the current tank
are they peaceful when not breeding and no other cons in their tank?

I have a 3" male in the 150g with 4 parrots, 3 severums, striped raphael and a pleco. All the other fish are much larger than the convict. No aggression seen by the convict. If you have a male and female, the aggression will be seen by the male to the other fish.

mine is. he relentlessly messes with most of my other fish. Even constanly liplocked with my red devil that is at least 2-times his size.

I think it all depends on the fish, my 1" female was pretty nice until she got about 1.5-2" then she got aggressive. but my 3.5-4" male is not at all even when trying to breed. He never stays and runs off and leaves the female to do all the work and defend but the male runs away from a geo that is smaller than him. He sucks at breeding. You could be alright for a short period.

I've never had any problems with the convicts I've had, but I've never kept a pair . . . I've had males or females, but never both at the same time . . . I definitely think you're less likely to have problems if they aren't paired up

I've had several pairs of breeding convicts, and the male has always been the aggressor. One pair though was a black male and a pink female. That pink female, wow I'm glad she wasn't my mate. What a bit*h she was. Just straight out nasty attitude.
