i've got two 4-5 inch convicts in a 22 gallon, they are both male, i am gonna get a female and keep the male who pairs with her.

my question is, i came back yesterday after them being together for a couple of days, and one of them had a lot of his fin damaged and i little bit of damage to his lip. i have not really noticed them fighting much since tho.

will they always fights like this or was this just them claiming their territories?

mine didnt ever seem to fight but maybe it was because the male was smalle rthan the female at first they are long gone but yeah they didnt seem to argue much if even at all after mating and all but that could just be me. they will definitly attack your hand if the have fry out though

two males of that size in that small of a tank are most likely going to fight, they may just be deciding dominance and be ok after awhile but as soon as you add a female to that tank one of those males is going to be dead within a day or two, convicts are fairly easy to pair so i would go ahead and get rid of the male you dont like as much as the other and get a nice female for the male and hopefully they will get along

with 2 males in a 22G, they won't be able to claim "territories", the tank is too small . . . it's going to be all-or-nothing, which means one of the males will get the worst of it . . .

you're better off getting rid of one of the males now, before adding the female . . .
