Hey guys, has anyone tried the combo of convict cichlids (not breeding) with large shoals of danios?

I'm just curious, I'm in two minds over whether it would work; based on average convict cichlid behaviour.

Tank size would be larger than 30 gallons anyway

Depends on the species of Danios. Giant Danios would be absolutely fine. Mind you, they need to be in groups of 5 or more. I've currently got a group of 5 with my 11" Red Devil. Aside from the occasional chase, the RD doesn't mind them. IMO, Convict Cichlids aren't all that aggressive unless they're in a small tank and defending fry. I've never had problems with Convicts and dithers, as long as the dithers aren't incredibly small (I.e. Neon tetras, white clouds, guppies, etc.)

Got any pic updates of your tank? would love to see that combo :)

I'm so tempted to put the convict in with my blood parrot, tiger barbs and danios in my other tank; but it's tempting fate lol

There should be a YouTube link under my signature. From there, I have up a video of my 90G set up.

I think tank size will be a real factor. I have my convict with tiger barbs and they do well together. But the tank is 4' long. He gives them a little chase sometimes but the tank is long enough were he only chases about half the distance then goes back to his corner. None of my fish have nipped fins. Now if the tank was shorter... I don't know.

Convicts ??? Not breeding ??? Impossible ..lol just kidding but personally never had luck keeping them and not ending up with babies ahahah
