3Days ago a bought a pair of convicts. So first of it might be 2 males, but im pretty sure there a pair. The female is smaller than the male but has no orange belly and she doesnt have a hump on the head. They are in a 25gal tank thats been cycled.had some tigerbarbs in it before them.

Q1.Should my female be hiding all the time,I dont see her swiming around like the male does.

Q2.The male look settled in.he is swiming around and hiding in the caves and around the plants. Is it possible the female is not settled in yet.

Q3.If I had 2males instead of a male and female.would the dominant male be aggressive towards the other smaller male.Right now he is only chasing the smaller one when he sees it and give up quickly.Doesnt look aggressive.

Q4.I added some danios and white cloud minnows as dither fish to fill the top of the tank a bit and the convict dont come near catching them. Are they a negative influence in anyway if I try breading the convicts.

Here is some pics tell me if you see room for improvements.
thanx.

sounds pretty normal to me, convicts are really mean fish will peck on fins of other fish. a female will grow a orange color on its belly, at that size it should have grown already, its prolly 2 males.

I have 3 breeding pairs of convicts and only 1 female has orange on her belly so that isn't always a give away but the convict in question does have a bit of a bump on the head and in some of the pics it does seem as if it has a long trailing fin.

Even if you do have 2 mails it shoudn't be hard to find a female in the stores just look for the smallest ones in the tank :-)

Do you know roughly how old they are?

oki doki.it is now clear I had 2 males.so i went looking for a female and somewhere to leave my one male.instead of that i found an awsome pair.so tomorrow im taking back both the old males.
O and im sure I have a pair now.the male is much bigger that the girl with a proper hump on the head and the girl is very orange on the sides.they also swim around together not fighting.
thanx guys.
I changed the layout a bit aswell.here some pics
