Convict breeding = digging?

Sooo...convicts like to dig a pit before they breed right?

My used tank came with pretty big pebbles(largest ones are probably 1/2" or more), and I'm almost positive my convicts can't lift it up

Do they NEED pits to breed? Could I make a few pits with my hand?

They do dig pits. Just let the cons do it them self's.

The thing is, they're pretty small(female is probably 1.5" and male is 2") and I really don't think they can move those pebbles

o trust me they can....... my breeding pair dug a trench nevermind a hole.... im talkin 4 inches deep so trust me when they wanna breed, they dig......

They will breed regardless, if you have a male and a female, water there ya go thats all your gonna need. They arn't to picky.

ya they will breed anywere they do dig but most and i put a clay pot in the tank and they bred there. mine just layed eggs less than a week ago and now the babies are almost free swimming
