I currently have 1 male 2 female convicts in a planted 29 gal. They are young, all under 2". I purchased 6 and have thinned them down to the current 3. The male seems to have paired and spawned with both females. Each F has a pot on opposed sides of the tank. He spends his day going back and forth. As of this morning 1 F has fry.

Has anyone had this happen? I thought it was cool, although I don't expect it to last!

Thoughts?

I bought 6 a month or so ago. Put a male and a female in a 10 gallon tank and they spawned within a few hours. I put another male and female in a 15 gallon tank and they just spawned a few days ago. Probably about 50 little ones swimming around in there now. From the first batch I have about 7-10 left and the male killed the female.

Can't say that I have had any in a pair of three though. Must of been a happy male. lol

That didn't last long. The 1st female got booted from her pot and the male ate the eggs. He cornered her behind the heater and continued to protect the 2nd batch of fry. I removed her so she wasn't killed. It was cool while it lasted.
