I was just wandering at what age and how early do convicts breed. I have a male and female convict at good breeding size but show no intrest in each other at all, the only thing my male do is chase my female around niping at her tail. I hear sooooo many stories about how easy it is to breed convicts but i have no success. Can someone help me out or give me some tips.:help2:

Also is it possible for two barred covicts to give birth to an albino form??:feedback:

Give it a little time and see if they pair up, how long have they been together, my first try took a little while before they showed signs of pairing up, as for you second question i can't really answer sorry, my best guess would be very very slim, unless one or both had recessive albino genes already

There's never been an albino Convict that I know of. There's "pink" forms of Convicts, but not a "true" albino.

In order to get pink Cons, you need either 1 pair of Convicts that carry the ressesive gene for pink (but don't display it - they'd be the offspring of a male barred Convict, and a female Pink, or vice versa), or option 2, you can have two pink convicts breed, and you'll get pink convict fry.

well my convicts were in a 5 foot tank for about a week when i got them to start breeding but the first batch got eaten so the 2nd batch i siphoned them out into a 30litre tank, there were about 50 or so by the time i got them out but most died and now have 8. 7 which are the colour of the 2 parents which are very dark stripes and from a baby size i could always tell one was pink and now its very pink indeed and much more agressive than the other 7, so u did some research and yes you can get the pink ones from striped convicts

Do you have any caves, logs, pots or anything else in thhe tank witrh them???? I put a pot and a cave in my tank and with in a week i had eggs

That is a sign of breeding behavior

And aggresion. My male is now in his second stage of chasing my female because she wont allow him to get laid. Oh well.

They start at roughly 1"-1.25". Bigger is some cases. But this size means that they can breed at lkike 4 months of age.

i have all white cons (3) they all got along then the two bigger ones stated to attack the smaller one. they changed color all 3, and then i saw some eggs maybe 1 month after i had em. now the little ones gone and i have about 10 babies! after i had like 70 eggs

What size are they and what size tank are they in?
If you have a big enough tank you can add another fish to be removed later. I did this with my last pair of Cons and with my Severums, the extra fish helps kick in the mating instinct and form a stronger pair bond, just keep a good eye on the aggression and remove the extra fish once your Cons pair up or if it starts to get beat around too bad. I used giant danios with both Con and Severum pairs and it worked out well, for me anyway.

Hey man, same story here! I can't get convicts to breed, because my male kills any females that are put into the tank...
