My convict who I believe is a male started digging little caves under plants, fake driftwood, and a rock pile. Does this mean that him and what I believe to be the female are about to breed?

are they paired up together? and if you plan on letting them breed, sometimes its alot easier to throw in a small clay flower pot, its simple and easy and if they are breeding, they will use the pot and stop digging a nest hopefully as well

I only have two of them however I don't know if you can call that paired. The male flares his gills and chases her when she gets to close to the cave he is working on. I don't want her to get beat up she is one of the best cons I have ever seen.
how big are they? is the female big enough to be sexed yet? and honestly the 5 males i have are always digging or moving sand to tidy up there clay pots, and other territory's.
The male is about four inches and the female is about three. And I am not an expert on sexing fish I just looked around on the forum and kindof guessed.
the females will have a orange breast an the males wont. we use large cichlid stones when we breed our convicts.
Asking if a Convict wants to breed is like asking if the sun comes up everyday.
