I just got a 29 gallon for my Male Convict who dose not get along with my Blue Acaras. I was thinking a school of tiger barbs and a stripped Raphael cat fish (Platyodras armatulus) for tank mates. I think the tiger barbs would be a good addition as they seam like they can handle themselves nicely, but I am not 100% with this idea yet. As for the cat fish, I have no clue. I have been doing research and it seams like they would be a good fit, but I have not found any info on the compatibility of them with the other 2 species, so I really don't know. Plus the catfish seams really big (7in) to be in a 29 gallon with other fish.

I have not had a catfish before , so that only adds to my unsureness. I know how to keep them in theory, but that doesn't mean I actually know how to keep them. If the Raphael would be a good tank mate for the convict then is there any thing I have to be careful of or anything I should know before I purchase one.

Also I feel like all those fish in a 29 gallon would be pushing it. I have a Punguin 200 on it so I don't really know how far I can push it, but with that being said I really don't want to stock it to its absolute limit either.

Any help would be appreciated and I am open to suggestions.:Pikachu:

Convicts can be rough on tank mates. With having just a male you should be okay. Barbs will do fine. The cat will hide most of the time. I think with frequent water changes you should be okay.
