Convict cichlid breeding

After all these years in the hobby I still find happiness watching fish spawn. The parents will tend to the fry and you’ll have to find foods to feed them, this can be baby brine(my first choice) or flake/pellets ground to particles. But, in your case wait two to three weeks and you’ll get to see it again, again, and again. Unless you have an outlet to get rid of fry you'll be overrun with in no time. Amatitlania nigrofasciata are prolific breeders and common enough to make finding homes for all of them difficult.

Shamzy it’s fun and a great experience to raise fry. I would encourage you to raise a batch for the enjoyment of seeing your own offspring reach adulthood, but as HUKIT HUKIT said, they’re prolific breeders, SUPER prolific actually, and due to their commonality are very difficult to even give away.
If you have other carnivorous or omnivorous species you could use the fry as feeders 👍🏼

I appreciate the messages guys but im wondering if you know if i should remove them from the tank because i have about 40 african. Cichlids in there i want to give them all a chance to go up to adulthood and if i should remove them im wondering how?

Easiest way to move fry is with a siphon hose. You will want to move the parents as well. Until about half an inch or so the parents herd them around the tank like a herd of cattle, and guard them as the graze on algea and micro fauna. Make sure, if you can, the tank you move them to is well established.

Yes these are Amphilophus saggitae, but it typical cichlid behavior with fry present.

I would remove as others have suggested, as the only reason I don't have a convict armageddon is because my venustus and other haps clean the fry up once released by their mom.

I was thinking if it would be a good idea to put a divider in the tank for them just let me know if that seems fine too

Are you talking about splitting the parents from the tank mates? If so what is the reasoning behind the question and what are the tank mates?
