Convict Cichlid Lifespan

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
im guessing around 10 years in that time 2 can be 80,000 ....... or more!!

yeah i would think around 4-6 yrs at least, most cichlids have a pretty good lifespan when they are well taken care of

Most cichlids should live at least 10 years. I've had my convict for 11 years and he is 6'' long. I had a texas for about 6 years old before I gave her away. My oscar is over 6 years old and still doing great.
It all depends on taking good care of the like water changes, diet, tank, and tank mates. Stress will shorten a fish's life for sure.

I did a lot of reasearch and foound that Cichlids can live up to 15 years.

Amasingly some Koi can live up to 250 years.

Yeah that is crazy. 15 years for a cichlid is possible. Just like people, they do start to have problems as they age. My convict is going blind, so I may have to euthenize him if he gets to a point where he can't eat. Right now he is doing ok. He used to be super aggressive, but has chilled out in his old age.
