Is it normal for female convict cichlids to be lesbians and fertilize eggs without males

They will spawn and lay eggs together but they cannot fertilize eggs because they are females. If the eggs hatch, there's a male in your tank somewhere...

Females lay eggs no matter if there are males or not.
I has a female GT that would lay eggs every three weeks like clockwork. There were no males in the tank. She would lay a row, turn around and eat what she just layed....

they are definitely not eating them yet.

I think they are fertilized but am not 100% sure

Are the eggs white or tan?

they are tan but are a little weird looking

Wouldn't be too hard to believe that maybe one of the females is actually a male in disguise. It doesn't happen very often but it does happen from time to time.
