I have several pairs of convicts and convict hybrids I'm using for a project (building a mini flowerhorn), and my L114 was often caught helping his self to their eggs. So i thought as I have almost a never ending supply of eggs why not feed my meat eating plecs cichlid eggs?
So I got some little spotty hypans a couple days ago and moved a pot of freshly laid convict eggs into the QT tank and they were all over the eggs within the hour! I recon as the eggs are full of protein and all that good stuff to make babies grow that they would be a perfect growth food. Does anyone see a problem with this? of course I will still offer algae wafers and some veg (114 never touches veg ever). Anyone else done this?

I buy catfish and Breen eggs from the Asian market and feed my fish- stingrays, and plecos' with them daily. I have wondered the same thing so if someone has input either way I would love to hear it.

First I've actually heard some one breeding fish for their eggs to feed plecos... or any fish, but it sounds like an awesome idea to me, and gives me a few ideas myself.

Thanks, I don't see why a free, high protein food source can be a bad thing. Can you remember where you heard about people doing this, links?

Also a great idea! have you noticed a difference in growth rates from feeding eggs?
