I have a convict that is about 4-5" and is FAT AS HELL! He looks like he swallowed a ping pong ball. Is this normal? He's been like this since I got him about 6 months ago.

It eats no more than the others? I would take a good look at its feces under magnification, That kind of abdominal swelling is often a sign of worms, Tapeworrms usually leave small pale, rectangular shapes in the feces, round worms sometimes leave either pale or dark ovoids like tiny grains of rice in the feces. This is not a sure way to tell as some types do not do this. A praziquantel laced food and a small ammount of salt (1 tbsp/5 g) will cure the fish and prevent the eggs from developing. If it has been passing eggs or tapeworm segments it is best to treat all the fish, plecos esp. have a habit of eating the eggs and getting worms. If you keep corys or mormydids you probably want to skip the salt.
