so i perchased 3 convicts today 1 male 2 female and i was wondering what should i feen em ik they eat vegies but what kinda and what kinda live food
and i chopped up a gold fish (cause they were just pivking at it so i had to just finish it off i felt terrible wathching it be tortured) will they eat it? like they nibble than leave i dont think they like it

convicts will eat almost anything. give them a variety;flake, pellets, frozen brine shrimp, bloodworms. i wouldnt recommend feeders.

what about veggies? they need em
what kind?

if you are going to feed them live food..which I don't recommend, don't feed them gold fish...they are too big...instead get the smallest fry you possibly can...why are you so intent on seeing your fish kill another fish? I just don't get it man...

ok ty i just wanted top see it once i said "hello, can u give me the smallest gf u have and she came back w/ a beast

yeah, peas, algea wafers, veggie flakes. just mix it up when you feed. and he's right if you insist on feeders go really small and quarentine them for parisites before feeding.

whats something fun to watch them eat???
like an earthworm. spider, ant anything?

i breed guppies and give my convicts a "treat" every once in a while. I see no harm in giving them feeders especially if they are from a personal feeder tank. To me no other food i have given them compares. My fish take on a whole different personality when hunting. its exciting. Also, i havent found anything my convicts wont eat, another thing you might try is some ghost shrimp, they are inexpensive and didnt harm my convicts at all (i was a little nervous)

How big are your convicts?

I have 4 until they pair up. they were all about 1" when I bought them.

They have been eating New Life Spectrum Cichlid formula 1mm sinking pellets.

They love the stuff and they are really healthy and active. They are all close to being 1.5" in almost a week that I have owned them.
