hey just wondering when i should pull the little buggers out and put em in a growout tank... i got a 25 set up for them so ya just wonderin.

Have the pair spawned before? If its the first spawn I had a lot of mine eaten by the parents in an attempt to "protect" them. But it depends also if there are other fish in the tank with them. I've left them in there for months when it is just the parents and that was a 20 long. What you need to consider is at what point the bio-load with overtake the filtration. When they're tiny, they make tiny waste, but when you have 50-100 half inch fish, that is a totally different story.

the parents take care of the young so i would separate them at 1" or maybe even bigger if you have a descent size tank

what you planning to do with the fry in the long run?

i have had mine spawn to many fry baches...i think i removed them when they were still small but a moble fry school so the filter wouldn't suck them up. bugs breed like rabbits

sorry buggers*

ya they spawned before in my friends tank and im pretty much planning on using them as feeders for my big cichlids in my other tank and if they dont get eaten then theyll be cool little fish to have amonst the monsters

well great surprise to have!

With Convicts its kind of hit and miss-- I think the parents have good intentions though.

Take a look at the potential hazards they'll face. If the filter & other fish won't eat them, I'd say leave them with the parents for a while.

theyre separated from other fish other than the parents the filter might get em tho... that would suck.

I put a sponge on the inlet. It 'reduces' the risk of them being sucked up.
