convict growth?

I have had my regular convict for a few months maybe six months. He is stuck at three inches how long will it take him to get to the 6" that they are supposed to grow? I have kept fish for a long time but beleive it or not this is my first regular convict so I have no idea how they grow. All I know id my old honduran red points grew faster than this guy.

Is he a "he", or is he a "she"? "She" won't get 6", only a big "he" wil. My female is only 4".

sorry yeah it is a male in a 55 gallon with a firemouth and a bichir. the convict is the dominant fish in the tank. he eats fine fed pellet, frozen and flake foods and I do 50% water change once a week.

Convicts are not terribly fast growers. Just keep the water clean and feed a varied diet and he should grow quicker.
