Hey guys, I'm wondering about the health/stress level of my black convict. This is my first tank, I've had it for about 4 months. Its a 55 gal that had two convicts and a pleco, the convicts had babies about 3 months ago, there are about 17 left. The female convict died about a week and a half ago (some type of infection, I think). Before she died, the male always showed his stripes and his black stripes were very dark. Ever since she died, he has not shown his colors, and is a very pale-ish color (other than that, behavior seems normal). I am just wondering if the lack of showing his colors means that he is stressed/unhealthy, or if it is simply because there is not a female in the tank to 'show off' to. Should I get another mate for him to be happy/healthy? Thanks for any help!
