I put my convict fry in a 10 gallon tank, put in about 8 of them and they are looking good, the biggest 2 are about 2.5'', it is a barebottom tank and has nothing in it, no heater or anything just a penguin 150. Are theese acceptable breeding conditions??

A bucket is an acceptable breeding condition for convicts. As long as you can keep the water clean and not keep any cons in there for life - only for breeding & fry growout, then I see no problem.

When my cons bred in a 20 long, I fed 3 times and did 5 gallon water changes daily with aged water. With the help of a Maxi-Jet 1200 powerhead/pump and some hosing it only took 10 minutes every day for the water change. The fry of course grew like weeds!

Good luck with your breeding project!

my cons just had more babies
they look like brine shrimp lol!
i dont mean to derail but can i ask a Q...?
how big should the fry b before you start to feed?

Do you want to breed in the middle of a snow field???

Heat... LOL

As soon as they are free swimming. Regarding a heater, as long as your water is over 70F they will breed. If the room keeps the temp 70F and up then you won't need a heater.
