Just make sure the female has enough hiding places. If they are a breeding pair and the female is not ready, the male will likely run her to death.

Super advice! Much easier if the female is quite a bit smaller and can hide in areas the male can't reach.

Throw in some danios or other targets and you'd be set!
 
They will breed in a 20 ,but I personally do not think it is big enough to keep them for life.I had a breeding pair in a 20L for almost a year,and when they started to get big,they stopped breeding,and I gave them away.Males will get up to six inches,and in a 30 inch tank with a 4 or 5 inch female,it is kind of cramped.
