Just a quick question, why is my Convict so interested in the Apple Snail I have in my tank?

Thanks,
Justin

Is he trying to eat it? I had some Herotilapia multispinosa which are small Central Americans like convicts, and they made quick work of eating all the nerite snails in my tank.

No, I honestly think he's caring for it... :screwy:
He cleans the algae off of it's shell and fights away anything that cares near it.

pretty sure it want sto eat your snail, i have a small heated pond with a few juvi convicts, it also had three 3" clams in there too, now they are just shells.

Was a puffer in a previous life imo...

The reason he's fighting away other fish is the same reason fish will chase others away from food -- he's claimed it and he wants it for himself. :D All my cichlids will hoard pellets and such when they hit the bottom of the tank. Your convict wants to eat the snail all by himself and he's daring anyone to get close.
