I already posted something similar but I want to reiterate my mistake!
My large male convict was all of a sudden attacking the girl, after months of comunion and 30 fry. He had grown much bigger than her and she ended up hiding in the corner or in between the filter tube and the heater because he would chase her. She would end up going sideways as if dying... from stress I imagine. So I put him in a 1 gallon tank for a few days (constantly cleaning the water!) to give her a break. Not so much as punishment but to prevent a murder! Though everyone around me thought I was, saying, "put his *** in that little tank!" And after she seemed ok I put them back together and man!!! He went nuts! Like "oh yea? take me out ima kill her" and he did. I don't regret putting him in the little tank because the bugger is alive and fat and well! I regret putting him in the big tank with Bonnie (oops did I just let out my fish's name). I should have left them separated. The babies need their mom :'( I KNEW I SHOULDN'T HAVE PUT HIM BACK!! WHYYY!!!
So now he's perfectly fine in there with about 30 fry. You can't punish a convict... they're born too bad for their own good
