in a month i will b ready to start my convict tank.will be for food 4 piranhas.tank will be roughly 36-15-20.
what are the pro and con about breeding them/keeping them
food,temp,scaping...

read quite a few post but don't answer all my questions

you might get more response to ask this in a piranha forum. It might be like me asking you how best to breed piranhas to feed my red devil....

they breed well.....what i would do is a 50% water change about 4 days befor you want them to breed....use cool water for the change and try to do it on a rainy day...or a day with low atmospheric pressure...
~place as many jars, rocks, cups, glasses, pots and enything else they can go in..
i set my tanks up like a human yard....i place the openings of the jars, pots w/e away from ewachother. some openings to these are only half an inch form the tank glass making the sih have to squeeze in. be sure there is enough room for the larger males to fit in with the females.
~ place plastic plaants and bubble rock curtains around each jars open end....leaving about a 6"x6" "yard" to keep each pair out of direct view of the next...(like a hedge row for humans)
~ i would put one male for every female or one male for 2 females max!!!
~ i would satrt with up to 4 pairs....im unsure of the size of your tank...
~you need to set up a small 10 gallon too for the fry.... if you need advice on raising fry let me know...
~ remove the fry with a syphon as soon as they swarm and are free swimming....then give the parents about a week and do the whole thing over.

Breeding them is easy. Growing out the fry to feeder size will require another 3 or 4 tanks, depending on how big you want them. If you remove the fry after they become free swimming you can get the pair to lay eggs again in about 2.5 to 3 weeks.

thank you very much for the tips.so i should place a bubble curtain between each pair, the tank will be 36x15x18 or something close.(i have a big glass panel i still need to cut it)
how many pairs should i have in there?
would giving 2 female to the male(s) reduct agressivity?
i am axious to try all that.will be my first breeding!and first cichlid.(beside local sunfish)

i don't think this should go in the pirahna section because fry gonna be eaten...i have question about chichlid, guess this is the good section..
if you want to feep piranha fry to chichlid...go ahead,i will be more than happy to see you have a good piranha breeding program!

i would def use a bubble curtain or 2 in the tank....i think it is best to have pairs of 1:1 male/female.... it makes for better fertility and more fry... also...you can raise the fry easy in a small tank with a sponge filter....try to let the tank gorw som algea in it too because it helps with growth....you can place different size fry in a small brooding tank as long as it it extreamly well planted or loaded with stones and cave...the larger ones will eat any smaller fry they can find...but doing so accelerates the larger frys growth...

ok.on the food side of things,is there a kind that support bredding convict better?for the fry, bloodworm?
temp??

i looked in the breeding section and i kinda understand poeple for not helping me...there is tons of post about it...read like10...more tonight

oh yeAH...how many in that tank you think??
maybe 2pair?

ı wouldnt bother, cons are mean fısh and the chances are they wıll outsurvıve the tank and end up rgowıng large and competeıng wıth your pıranha for food because we all know pıranha are shy unless ın feedıng mode and ı can see them beıng pushed around.
