is it possible to have a breeding trio of convicts? or would one female kill the other?

also how do i insure that my convicts breed as often as possible? (while keeping them healthy)

How long could i leave the fry in with the parents? (there are many hiding places)

i've always taken the extra female out when they pair up but it's probably more likely the male would kill one of the females then the females kill each other. They tend to be the more aggressive ones

The easiest way to ensure they breed often is to seperate the fry from the parents so they can breed again.

you can leave the fry with the parents for as long as you want. They generally only tend to eat the first batch but are excellent parents. in the past my males have a tendecy to beat up my females when they want to breed again and she won't because there's fry in the tank but i've done my breeding in relatively small tanks where she didn't have much room to get away

------>Yes..I have know of many occurances of people breeding trios in 20-55g tanks...The male, in some cases, goes back and forth to each spawn........

------>I like to breed my pairs twice a month.....Three times in one month can be done......All that is needed to do is the following:Remove fry right after hatching, and place the spawn in a seperate growout.....Then, the pair will readjust to not having to protect the eggs, therefore will lead to another clutch of eggs within a week......

------>Accidently, I have had fry grow up in the same tank(125g) with their parents........The best way of getting the most number to survive to saleable, or feeder, size is to rear the whole spawn in a seperate tank.....20g is fine, but a 55g for about 100 fry is perfect...........Remember to do 50% water changes everday for the first weeks, week and a half..........
