Hey guys,

I have been breeding convicts in order to feed the fry to my Os. But the convicts i have i got from the local store and they are i assume sub par specimens. For that reason i am planning on growing out the fry in order to pic the best specimens and get a breeding pair from them. that way even though i;m just using the fry for food, i at least have fish i can display.
One problem, what should i be looking for? I know convicts have interbred with a many other species, but what should i look for in order to have a pair that most represents the breed. One of the the father is striped the mother is pink, but the ones i choose i would like both to be striped. Things i should look at please.

I'd be cautioned to feed your convicts to your Os. They have hard spines that can get caught in the throats.

yup, cichlids are spiny-rayed fish, don't wait till they're too big or it can kill your oscars
