I've got a couple of convicts, one has red on it's sides and the other has yellow on it's sides.
The fish with the red acts like an aggressive male even though I thought red meant a female. Or is that suppose to be red on it's BELLY?
Can the sex be determined by these pics? IMG_5303.JPG IMG_5308.JPG IMG_5304.JPG

Uh... I came here thinking this was something different.... awkward...

But while I’m here, usually the coloration on its side means it’s female. Females can get just as aggressive as males. Most people don’t give convicts enough credit lol. I’d say female

Pretty sure you have all females there, any orange is an indicator of female...males are usually grey, black, with blueish

I bought my two ladies a male and instantly the one with the red side patch started beating the snot outta him. She was relentless and brutal. She surely would have killed him if given a little more time. I was finally able to catch her and place her in a breeder box within the tank. I guess I'll need to find her a new home.
Now the new male and female with the yellow patches are quietly hanging out together in a cave recuperating from the carnage.

It always amazes me how much the personality of chiclids can vary.
