So I'm trying to breed Convicts since everyone says they're so easy to breed. I'm just curious if I got 2 females or an actual pair...
Top Pictures are my Male
And bottom is for sure a Female
What do you guys think

The 2, 3 ,4 pic all look like females to me. The first looks like its got some color on it, so im gonna guess female too. how big is the male and female?

Man :swear: I was hoping that the first 2 pics, someone would say Male :(

They're not big at all...the...Hermaphidite in question is about 1" while the other is 3/4"

:iagree: imo it looks like all of them could have orange scales on the belly region but it's kind of hard to tell in the pics. the orange on the belly is how you tell male from female. :)

also, I think those cons are hybrids. they look like they've been crossed with Honduran red points. HRP's look similar but the body color is a very nice light blue instead of grey like a normal convict. they also have the blue on the chin area that yours appear to have. there are regular convicts that have a lot of color but unless the lfs you got them from orders from Jeff Rapps then I doubt that's what they are. cons are crossed with HRP's at several fish farms and sold off as "blue convicts".

I got it at a lfs selling them as plain old Convicts. The one in question has very little coloring on it's belly, but it's more of a metallic white coloring than an orange coloring. They haven't bred yet (about 2 weeks...call me impatient), so I wasn't sure.

I see the most color in the dorsal of the second pic, and if thats the metallic fish, convinces me its a female. I'm curious about their size because the body shape also has me thinking females.

How bigs the tank?? Go getta couple males and let em party.

my bad, 27 Gallons is no good for two pair. honest mistake.

im crosseyed so I cant read sigs.
