convict sexing

ok so i left for a week at camp last week and while i was gone my dad was in charge of fish duties. well i told him to buy a dozen comets at petsmart to feed my needle fish and he buys some offbrand goldfish that is to large and kills both of my needlefish.:swear: :rip :rip so i want to turn the tank into a convict breeding tank and i want to know how to sex the males from the females.
 
females have red coloring on there bellys and males have a blue hue on there fins

Male convicts will have longer fins, females will have an orange-red coloration on their bellies.
 
when is sexing viable (how big untill you can tell?)
 
I've seen the reddish-orange spot showing at under an inch.
 
ok heres my though on the whole sexing for convicts:


males do ahve: pointed fin, stocker, bigger, deeper colored hummp on head later in age.
males dont have: orange rounded fin and eggs.


females do have: rounded fins, orange stumach, saller but plumpier, lighter colored, eggs.
females dont have: pointed fins but sum may but rare tho, hump on head, sperm.


thats all i can think of.

and my old 1/2 inch baby con that now is my cousins was a female and bright orange

Off brand goldfish? LOL
 
the rounded fins are not a good sexer. a lot of females have pointed fins.
all you have to look for iz a orange belly
off brand?????????
