Am i completely ignorant to think that i can throw in a few tankmates with my Convict cichlid tank? it hasnt been set up yet... but i kinda want to add a few fish before i introduce the COnvicts.. I want some sort of fish that catch the eye and not the wallet, just incase if one convict wants a latenight snack i can replace it....suggestions/comments?
thanks josh:popcorn:

How big of a tank are we talking about here?

I had my Male kill my Female in a 20g. I think if you want to keep it as a community thing, then I would suggest a big tank and keep some type of Algae Eater like a Rainbow Shark and maybe some Tinfoil Barbs or Silver Dollars.

sorry to not be specific, i get confused with what i say with all these posts...(all 120 of em)haha, but yea its going to be a breeding tank to raise fry for my 90 gallon. the breeding tank is a 55gallon, and i want possible 2 pair in there, 1 pair pink if i can, and 1 pair blakc if i can. but i was hoping to put in sometankmates who wont dare touch or eat the fry.. possible just getting some plant eaters, maybe some red hooks/silver dollars.. im open to all suggestions, please ones that wont eat fry... thanks agian:popcorn:

I think the best thing to do is just get one pair and a Pleco. Give the little fry some growing room so they're not so tiny when it comes harvesting time for the Big Guys. :D

yeah, ur probably right.. but i want 2 pair regardless... but i gues syour right.. why mess up the breeding..I'll give the fry a lil extra space...how bout some snails instead of a pleco?

Snails might work. I was thinking of getting snails when I had a breedin pair. Everyone said that they would be eaten. So...I don't know. You could try it.

i will try it, i'll get some monsters, if theyre eaten so whats 25 cents or w/e they are??

I have snails in with my breeding pair of cons'. When the lights are out it sounds like they are playing pool. They must not like them there because i can hear the shells hitting the glass constantly, lol. :swear:

I tried doing a pleco in mine, that didn't work. The moment I dropped him in the there the female tried to pluck out his eyes.

i wud have to go with no tankmates that may eat the frys. :)
if u want optimal number of fries for feeding purposes, which obviously is ur plan... id leave the tanks alone with the parents in it. however, u can try some plecos or algae eater of some sorts. Snails will be ok! i have a tiger snail in my con tank and they pretty much leave each other alone and do their respective business.. good luck!
