My big convict looks like its sides are buldging out where his stomach is, he is also breathing really hard and fast. The buldge is the size of a large marble and thaught it might be a tumor or something else. I have noticed on pictures of big convicts that some look deformed. Anybody know what this could be?

it might be bloat does his scales stick out like a pinecone?all that heavy breathing means there is a problem.

No the scales dont poke out. There is just this buldge right behind his bottom fins. Could it be intestinal blockage, or a intestinal parasite? He seems to open and close his mouth a lot! Its not like he is gasping for air or anything.

It looks like this but not as extreme on a zebra cichlid.

Truthfully, that looks kinda normel to me. I mean if anything it would be internal parasites, and you could treat that with medidated foods made by jungle. But like I said, looks like he is just a plump little boy! I had two bigger pink cons about 6"-7" a piece, and they both got really fat, and were always breathing hard. Oh, and they lived for almost ten years like that.....

Later,

Billy
