Convict Weird

today i was given a 2-3" female convict,i already had a male 1-2" con and a 11/2" Fm but i put the female convict in and the male was liplocking with it and his stripes turned White and his body dark grey does anyone know or heard anything like this???please responed i want to know what happening.

What size is the tank they are in? They show a funy color (males) when they first see some booty.....

lol they are in an 20"x12"x12" tank im not sure how many gallon can u work it out?
They fish are nowhere near full grown lol

12.46 gallons? I use the old method to calculate gallons...(L x W x H divided by 231). My convicts change from dark gray to really white sometimes depending on their mood I guess.

Introducing a female into a males territory will produce a definate response and you got it. It could be agressive, but usually with cons they just wanna test each other and get down to some egg laying if they are in any way compatible.

That firemouth is as good as dead in a week. They are gonna breed and murder him in anything smaller than a 30 gallon, especially if he's the only other fish then he is the only target for them to beat up.
