Hello monsterfishkeepers, I have a 55 gallon tank. I have 3 gold severums, 1 green severum, 1 blue acara and 1 convict. The green is the biggest, then the acara then the golds and the convict is the smallest. My questions are....: when they are all fully grown is this to much fish for the tank and will one of them in particular (or more) kill the others?? Can I add more fish?

Your way overstocked I'm afraid. Severums get big Your tank is big enough for two Severums and that's tight

My convict is boss of the whole tank and she lays eggs every month she keeps all the Severums and other tank mates to one side of the tank
But my tank is way bigger than a 55
I agree that at 55 you are over stocked

I also think your overstocked,2 severums might work,if they pair, then maybe trouble for female.you could try to sex the fish you have and keep 2 M or 2 F

Agree-- at adult sizes just too many for the tank. It's possible you can let them grow, hope a cozy severum pair forms and keep them in the tank with some smaller fish. Still small for the severums, considering they can get 10-12 inches, 9 inches would be on the small side for those severum types. It's also possible you could do one severum and one of the others on our list, would just depend on the individuals.

4 ft long is ok for the sevs but front to back depth is tight as mentioned. If they're small enough now and get along OK you could just enjoy them for now and be prepared to adjust things when they get more size or whenever one becomes a problem.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I will make some adjustments. I called the pet store and they said they can take back some of the fish whenever I'm ready. Hopefully the gold severums make a pair they seem pretty chill. The green severum and the convict are going to be the problem I think.

get rid of the convict ASAP if you're not attached yet they're super common if you really have to have one down the road it's not a tough fish to find. People are always giving them away for free. Check out what a full sized Severum looks like. They really do look cramped in a 75 gallon when they're full size. They're also pigs. They produce a considerable bio-load for their size.
