this is how they could look like if they are not taking care of eggs or fry. you can see the female has red on the belly and is more colorful overall, in my case they both have long fins. i thing the shape of their heads is different.
if they are breeding then they look much alike but then.. if they are breeding you should already now which is which lol
but i think one big difference is what kmlt says about the little black spots on the base of the fins on the male, as male get bigger they become more visible, i think you can see this in my pic.

if you look closely you can really see them on the tail of your male. and i agree about the face shape, the females is much more slopped and the male's mouth sticks out more.

also i'm assuming the op figured it out because he hasn't posted in a while..
