This could be a really stupid question but i think it could work so could a pair of convict cichlids be kept in a 30g? :nilly: they would probaly be kept alone.

A pair of cons would do fine in a 30g tank. This is assuming the dimensions of your 30g are at least 30" long and 12" wide. For example a pair of cons would not work in a 30g hex tank. You could also get by with adding some smaller quick fish but I would not spend too much as there is always the chance of loosing one to the cons.

thanx if i got one it would be a long one. i dont have one but i was thinking i would get one and one of my friends had some convicts and i thought they looked cool. and i thought i could use some extra feeders so thanx and i would probally keep some too.and could a convict be a dither fish to another convict pair or not?

Con's grow reallllllllyyyyyyy slow, I did the exact same thing but they took so long to become a substantial snack...

I've successfully kept as many as six pairs of Convicts in a 30g, lol. Non stop babies and non stop action. No murders though. So, yeah, I think a pair would be fine. I currently have five cons in my 30g now, two males and three females. There's currently two groups of fry.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I don't care. I take good care of my fishes. My first Convict breeding colony for a safe food supply for my big tank was 15 cons in a 20g. I had seven little flowerpots in there for caves. They made babies non stop too. No murders in that set up for a year and a half (I moved all those cons to the big tank). And yes, water was kept perfect with massive filtration overkill and frequent water changes.
