hi there

This is my first post:) , I am setting up a 30 gal tank for two convicts that i will be getting from a friend this pair might be a breeding pair. The question is do they like to have a current, if so how strong should it be, the second question would plants survive them.

regards

:welcome: to mfk. Current is good because it keeps the water oxygenated. But your filter outlet is really all the current you need. Cons dont really like strong currents. Just let the filter provide a slow current and get an air pump for a little extra oxygenation.

As for plants i dont think they will last too long. I have a few in a 29 with convicts but they have already destroyed a few of them. And i also have some with cons in a 20 and they have also destroyed some plants.

:welcome: to MFK i think its best to just get a blow bar on the back wall inside your tank attached to your filter that should be best id think thats much better than the plants.

Thanks for the response, will ditch the plants and the current. The hang on filter will then be sufficient?.
