Convicts and growing fry

Sooo.. im thinking of breeding convicts for my pbass.. Ive got alot of unused room in my stand. In an attempt to not let the hobby run wild, and set up tanks everywhere in my house, Im thinking of setting up an old divided 29g for the breeders.. but as far as seperating the fry, im thinking getting a rubbermaid container or 2 to grow em out in, ofcourse i know id have to set up filtration and all.. Just seeing if anyone has done this or has any advice on doing it before i fall flat on my face and accidently kill a cpl hundred baby fish.

You could simply stick to operating it with heater and sponge filter and do water changes as necessary. Feed the fry several times a day but make sure to control the amount of foods you feed. Don't overfeed as it will quickly pollute the water.

hi i have recently bred convicts
what i did to simulate a cavve is take a pot and brake the bottom off after doing that for two pots i went to my local home depot and bought a slate rock tile for 97 cents or so then i sterilizzed it and put it in my aquarium and layed the bi8ger opening faced down on the tile this made an exelent hide out i will post pics as soon as i get back from my tripb

Anyone have any suggestions on how to capture the baby convicts. I have a breeding pair in my 180 which has alot of driftwood and rocks. They are breeding so frequently they are over running the tank. How can I collect them besides chasing them down with a net. Thats just not very practical. Any ideas or methods??

Siphon the fry into a bucket. Then pour bucket into the fry tank.

That sounds great lol or you can try one of thoes pet fish traps they sell on most fish websites
