I have 8 convicts in a 50 with alot of caves,a pair spawned after about 1 month. i was so excited i thought about taking the fry out but decided not to ( i had tried this with rosey barbs and all the fry died:water must not have been the same) they were fine for 2 wks then i woke up yesterday to find all of the others attacking the parents ,to get at the fry. now there gone the parents are mangled and im mad because i didnt do something right after the fry hatched.i tried to get them yesterdaybut they kept going back in the caves. now i have another pair (same male) that hatched this morning in a cave that is under gravel with a hole just big enough for the parents to get thru. did they kill the others to make room for these or should i just take a chance and vacum these fry up and put them in a 20?

It usually takes them a first couple of tries and they will end up eating the fry, give them try and they will figure out what they are doing. It may also be stressing out over the other fish in the tank, 8 Convicts is just too many in a 55 - cut down to about 4 and they will be breeding non-stop. :)
