Well I changed my water today and was scrubbing away algae after the water change I ran a couple of tests on my water with my API masters test kit. Everything is perfect.

0 Nitrate
0 Nitrite
0 Ammonia
pH 7.4
Water Temp: 80

And finally got rid of that damn algae induced by my tank being next to a window.

Well back to the Convicts...They recently bred and had frys, frys are about 3 days old before today they were doing a good job on being parents and stayed together and worked as a team to raise the fry and protect them. After the water change, they are constantly fighting and now my male won't let the female back around the nesting area where the frys are. The female is on the other side of the tank hiding from the male and getting harassed by my King Kong Blood Parrot cause thats his territory and pretty much all my other fishes (Firemouth, Oscars). Was wondering what should I do? Should I take out my male Convict or Female?

take out the fry, and set them in a 10gal.

Was thinking about doing that, but I am afraid it's a little soon.

as for my fry, i seperated all the fish but my breeding con's. but in your case, you still have all your fish in the tank, so the best thing to do, is to set up a 10gal, get panty hoes and cover the inlet of the filter.

I think the female will die from starvation or something. Shes stressed, always hiding and just ideals in a corner of the tank by herself not eating or moving....

hi man .... in my last breed they did that too and she just stayed at the corner and on the top untill he killed her so my only advice is to separate the female in another tank condition her with any live food ( i give them worms ) it works so good ... and the dad won't harm his fry mine after he killed her he took a very good care of the fry he is a good father and now i am putting him in the main convict tank so as he get paired again and i do prefare to get the fry in another 10 gal tank but take care man those are a very small fry tc in netting and i'r rather get them through a hose siphone process in the nesting area for the fry but hey man that is a very serious process take a very good care and be so carefull or u ll loss them all

hint: breed every kind in its one tank that is something i learned fom this accidents ( female being hittin away .... etc )

i wish u a very good luck with your fry

cheers George

Dang I feel bad for the female makes me want to take out the male and just let the female do her thing....But I guess I'll have to get rid of her, either that or my Oscars will eat her corpse when she dies...Eeeeek.

don't put oscars with the convict and plus they have fry noway oscars will ruin every thing ....

My Oscars are passive, they don't even eat the fry nor bother my Convicts. I don't even want the frys....I just don't want to kill them or let them be eaten later on. I think I'm going to wait and let them get bigger and buy a 10G for breeding.

well as long as they are with their father nth will harm them but really u need to isolate the female and condition her with any live high proten food ... i wish i had removed my female before he killed her :( she was big and breed 3 times before :( :( now it is gone

wish u luck , George
