Convicts Broke Up

One of my Convict pairs broke up! They have been together for the past two months and have had fry together but the past few days they just split up and sit at the opposite sides of the tank and attack each other once in a while. What the hell is happening? Will they get back together or what?

they might pair up again...i have a pair that im trying like hell to disuade from spawning, but of course they did maybe 3 weeks ago. i took out the ornament they laid eggs on and rearranged the tank, then the female was getting beaten on by the male and her color got really washed out and spent most of her time hiding. less then a week ago they started hanging around each other and look ready to spawn at any minute...

how big's the tank they're in? most cichlids only form pair bonds so long as conditions are favorable for them to remain a pair. if something in the environment changes, the pair can easily be broken.

bottom line is..just because a pair forms doesn't mean they'll always be a pair. without knowing anything else at this point my guess would be they need to be in a larger tank.
