Tank is a 55 Gallon Planted aquarium, current stock list is...

5 x Yoyo Loaches
6 x Priscilla Tetra
1 x BN Pleco

pH is stable, but rather high (8.0).

Looking to round the stock list for this tank off but I'm torn as to which would be the best route. My ideas thus far are...

(a). Pair of Convicts
(b). 1 x EBJD
(c). 6 x Bolivian Rams
(d). Pair of Convicts + EBJD
(e). 2 x Bolivian Rams + EBJD
(f). Other

I want this tank to be relatively peaceful with good color that is lively.

I would go a pair of EBJD, *note, i have no experince with them, just like there looks ;)*

all he'd end up with are the ebjd's, stick with the rams, you'll have a much much more peaceful tank, the convicts or jd's would kill everything in the tank should they pair up

A leopard ctenopoma (Ctenopoma acutirostre) would be really cool, but I think the tetras would have to go.

Yeah I was thinking that a pair of Cons would overthrow the tank - never kept Cons before so I don't have much first hand knowledge of them.

I do like the mix of EBJD and Bolivian Rams, thinking since EBJD's are a bit more timid then regular Jacks and if I get it so the Rams and EB grow up together then I will have a better chance of success.

I agree; apistos seem to be a logical choice. They do great in planted tanks; however, the loaches will most likely eat the eggs/fry if and when they spawn. In my experience, EBJD's are best kept in a dedicated tank for the longterm. They've always been the first to succumb to parasitic/bacterial infection in my tanks. I've come to the conclusion, after keeping several specimens, that the blue coloration that we find so crazy beautiful is actually a genetic inferiority.
Oh yeah, what about Honduran Red Points. If you're into Convicts, HRP's are smaller growing, less aggressive, and way prettier than Convicts.

I'm not too big of a fan of apisto's really, I had some double and triple reds before. Although I guess a breeding trio wouldn't look too bad.
