Convicts in mass?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yes with lots of visual barriers and plants/logs/rocks you could probably fit 5 pairs pretty tightly once they are larger, plus a few roaming males and some dither fish such as a big school of like buenos aires tetras. That would be awesome. I was able so establish a male tank of cons in a 55 where i had 4 and they lived fine in there.

Yes but same sex only. I had a breeding pair that absolutley terrorized three full grown oscars. Some David and golitah sht. I had to seperate the pair into their own 55 gal and all was well after that. Im not saying not to try it but dont be suprised if the first group that pairs and nests makes all the others miserable.

Good luck dude. A convict species tank that big would look amazing!

i have 3 pairs in my 75 but u can go atleast 6 pairs in 180
just put lotta pots and and some plants and some dithers i like bala sharks as dithers

I have a rd and a red pike ( I know they are not scientific names but this is my first new world tank and I really have no experience ) I will have a sand bottom and plenty of rockwork and logs for a natural looking tank.

If you put the Red Devil with Convicts it will be harrassed by the breeding pairs. If it is smaller than the convicts they may stress it out. It's hard for most fish to live with multiple breeding pairs of convicts. Make sure that the Red Devil has places to get away from the breeding convicts. A big Red Devil will do a lot better against convicts if not kill them. Devils are mean cichlids that can stand up to most tankmates. A few little cons are nothing to them. But breeding cons are totally different. I have seen some of the toughest cichlids be bullied by breeding cons. One pair can be brutal. Several pairs can be carnage.
