convicts+live plants=?

i have a breeding pair of cons in a 25g with 6 otos and a micro sword and a tropica sword with a 20watt light

today i should get a 65watt light ordered yesterday overnight

my question is my lfs said no to cons in a planted tank

wats ur ideas?

yeah i think you will be alright i have never seen my con eat plants but i think thouse ottos are going to be feeders soon

Cons won't be really a problem for a planted tank. They really aren't big diggers although yours are breeding so they might clean up their area a little. They won't rip up your plants either.

I had cons in a planted tank before and they did fine.

I've had cons in a planted tank. Big amazon swords and little cons. The cons started clearing the substrate from the base of one of the plants exposing the roots. They have since been removed.

They'll dig pits, which as above exposes roots. But they do not shred, tear, kill plants.
