well i bred cons last year. always removed the fry too soon so i bought new pair. they havwe layed eggs after 2 days in my tank(they are alone in a 50gbreeder) and they arent near the eggs or fanning them or anything. they look fertilized, thery arent white they are like a tanish color. idk how long theyve been there since i noticed them yesterday but i can somewhat see eyes in them i think. i out 2 pvc pipes for them butthey decided to lay them on the side of the tank. odd. is there a reason why they arent near them? my last pair when they had eggs would bite nme if i went in the tank, these guys dont care, they dont even acknolege im there. :screwy:

probably just young parents, they will learn

right now i have eggs from short body pink cons that i just bought about a week ago. they are 1". the female fans the eggs but leaves them when i come to the tank to chase me away. i have afew other fish in the tank so they are on guard. maybe if you have no other fish in the tank they don't feel threatened enough to guard them too diligently?

that s why I say maybe they are fanning them until you come to the tank and then they are distracted and come after you?

my only concern is ther are notfanninghtem. my lat pair were akways fanning them
good job spelling not fanning them :D

IMO its that the parents are too young and if this batch of eggs gets messed up, just wait a week and there'll be more and hopefuly the parents learned something

they are indeed fertilized. i see eyes.. they are protecting them now. alls good. and thanks lol my keybord is messed up so thts why it spelledit tht way.
