I had a pair of convicts in a 20 gallon for a month. It bred the first month with a batch, but the parents kept fighting(torn fins/loss of scales) so i separated one of them. The other started to eat all the babies.
Then i moved them to a larger tank and they havent bred for 3-4 months or something.
I was thinking of moving them to a pond which would probably increase the chance of breeding.
i would like to know why they havent bred in the larger tank and they did in the smaller one.
Also, if they sucessfully breed in the pond what will happen to the other fish (guppies/aorwana/knifefish/goldfish/koi/plecostomus/pacu)will the convicts kill the other fishes?

That's a new one. Convicts refusing to breed. What's in the larger tank? Coffee?

No seriously, it could be a water param issue. Anything from temp to pH to whatever.

And if you move them to your pond and they breed, and kill your jar and/or silver...
you better make a video of that!

I don't see a convict killing a 1 foot Jardini. How big is the pond?

My convicts haven't bred in about 4-5 months but thats because I don't allow them. When they start to get ready and the female drops her tube, I just remove the cave and put it back after 2 days. They completely forget everything about breeding for another 3 weeks.

use the pill that might help them breed j/k

why do you want them to breed? Feeders or what?

Did you forget to add water????

i dunno what happened. the silver is in the pond which is about 500 gallons more or less. and i juist want to breed them just cus. do u think is hould buy a different pair of convicts?

maybe u just have two males or two females
