lol. so I picked up a male and a female and tossed them into a 10G.
they are still relatively small so they fit quite well in there.

I put the female into the tank first so as it could get accustomed to the tank before the male was introduced. when I threw in the male the female was flaring her gills at first, and then she was constantly following the male around the tank.

I set-up two caves (as flowerpots) and have various rock structures. However, every time I glance into the tank the male is always partrolling the bottom of the tank and the female is cowering in some corner or behind my filter.

I haven't seen any serious aggression, but I have seen the male chase the female away and just push her around, no serious wounds as of yet.

Should I just wait it out and wait on them to start to form their bond or is there anything that I can do to get them to start loving eachother ? lol

any help is appreciated :)

I agree that a larger tank is necessary, however, that may not fix the problem. Although fish (especially convicts) may not be as picky as humans, they two just may never pair up. This is why it is normally recommended that you get a male and a couple of females so that you have a better chance of getting a pair.

Other things to do are, keep temp up in the low to mid eighties. Also, sometimes doing a water change with colder water will prompt spawning.

The male set up house and pushes the female away? He's ***...get a new one.

Edit: *** is a bad word!?:WTF:

Maybe because babies can't make more babies?

Spawn at an inch? None of mine have ever spawned before about 4 inches!

Cons will start spawning anywhere between 1 1/4 - 2". I had a pair a cons in a 29 a few years ago, and they had fry that started spawning in the same tank.

i worked at a fish store for a while and there were a pair of "baby" cons at about an inch that spawned and had fry in the tank they were for sale in.
