This is the result of hrp and convict cross breeding and unfortunately is what you seem to find in most lfs now. Finding true hrp and true convicts is becoming harder and harder.

Yeah, they are rare...considering its hard to find HRP

HRP, yes...because they're not so Horny. Black Convicts, Please...you think cockroaches will ever be extinct?

Hard to find cichlids are always the one's that are hardest to breed, that's why they are hard to find. Convicts, JD, Texas, Flowerhorns, and all the common LFS cichlids are all horny fishes. Thats why you see more cross btw these, JD x Convicts, Texas x Flowerhorns, etc. etc.

Ask how Spectabilis pair owners are doing....Im sure the male killed the female or the conditions never suit the fishes well enough for them to breed.
